Lesson 06: Traits of Prophets

i. Traits of Prophets:

Following are the traits of Prophets.

Human Being: Allah always sent human beings as prophets. He didn't send any jinn or angel as prophets to mankind.

Allah says:

Translation: "And we sent not before you (as messengers) except men to whom we revealed".

Although, prophets are human beings but they are gifted with such qualities which others don't possess but some people misunderstood that a man could not be a prophet. A messenger should be an angel. In reply to this, Allah said:

قُلْ تَوَكَانَ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَلَيكَةُ يَمْشُونَ مُطمينينَ لَنَزَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَلَكًا رَسُولاً(بنی اسرائیل: 95)

Translation: say, "If there were upon the earth angels walking securely, we would have sent down to them from the heaven an angel (as a messenger).

Wehbiyat: Risalat is such a blessing which is merely a gift of Allah. No one can get that with his hard work and struggle. This is not such a thing which could be acquired through worship and efforts. This is merely blessing of Allah and its His will to whoever He gives it...

Allah says:

Translation: That is the bounty of Allah, which He gives to whom He wills.

Translation: Allah is most knowing of where He places His message.

Ameen: (Trustworthy) The Prophets are the most honest and truthful and that honesty of Prophets is not found among common men. This is the reason that those people who were the worst enemies of Prophet Muhammad would even keep their belongings in the custody of Hazrat Muhammad. The commandments that have been revealed to Prophet for the guidance of people have been preached to the people as it is without any particle of dishonesty in them. Allah says:

Translation: Indeed, "I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

ii. Preaching Allah's Commandments:

All those commandments and sayings that a Prophet preaches before people are from Allah. A prophet doesn't say anything from his own mind but he is a representative of Allah J. Allah says in Quran:

Translation: Nor does he speak wrong (of his own) inclination. It is not but a revelation revealed.

iii. Innocence (Free of Sins):

All messengers of Allah are innocent and free from sins. Their sayings and actions are free from interference of satan. A Prophet's character is spotless and he is such a perfect person who owns tremendous spiritual power. His no work is under influence of his sensual desire.

iv. Obligatory obedience (of Prophets A.S):

A messenger shows the path of Allah. Therefore, his obedience is Allah's obedience. Likewise, a prophet is an interpreter of Allah's book. He is the teacher and lover of Ummah and the best example (Role Model) to be followed by his Ummah. He is the interpreter of Allah's law and a judge and a commander (decision maker). The obedience of prophets is mandatory, Allah says:

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولِ إِلا لِيُطَاءَ بِإِذْنِ الله (الا :64)

Translation: "And we did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by pérmission of Allah.

v. Men of high morality and character:

The prophets are the men of the best character and morality. Whether that is the time before their prophethood or after prophethood, no one could raise doubt on their character. Because they are the best models of great morality. Prophet Muhammad said.

Translation: Indeed I have been sent to accomplish high moral values.

vi. Close Slaves of Allah:

The messengers are close slaves to Allah and they love that rank which common people do not have The characteristics of trustfulness, honesty, purification and cleanliness, worship and obedience which are found in them are not there in common men. Therefore. Allah addresses them through wahee ( Revelation) and they have greater atributes in all aspects than common men. They have true love for Allah and Allah loves them too and rewards them. with His closeness.

vii. Men with Miracles:

Allah has honored His messengers with miracles. Such miracles were occurred by prophet that human reason wonders on them. This is quality of Allah's messengers that they are given miracles. As they are higher than that of common human beings in their traits and rank. This is the trait of prophets that they are men with miracles.

viii. Training and education of believers:

The prophet make their Ummahs aware of wisdom of Allah's commandments and train them by taking them away from bad deeds that those people become the best men of their societies. Allah says:

Translation: "Who will recite to them your verses and teach them the Book and wisdom".
